Coorg, situated in the Western Ghats of the Sahyadri Mountains in South Western Karnataka, promises its visitors with relaxation and peace. Because of its good location makes it easier for tourists to reach. It is surrounded by Dakshina Kannada District in the Northwest, the Hassan District in the North, the Mysore District in the East, the Kannur District of Kerala State in the Southwest, and the Wayanad District of Kerala in the South. Although there is no airport or railway station in Coorg, the district is well connected as it enjoys proximity with various cities and towns which are in turn connected to the rest of the country via railways and airways. From Chennai also tourists can easily reach Coorg. The Coorg Chennai distance is approximately 594 km. One can reach Coorg from Chennai in an approximate time of 9 hours and 50 minutes.

By Air:

Coorg doesn’t have any airport. Chennai has one of the nearest international airports to Coorg.    The Chennai International Airport (MAA) is connected to many cities around the world and thus in turn connects Coorg to them. The nearest airport to Coorg is Mangalore which is 160 km away from Coorg. Chennai is connected to Mangalore via flights.

By Rail:

You won’t find any direct train from Chenniato Coorg. Coorg doesn’t have a railway station and thus the nearest railway stations are Mysore Junction (MYS) and Mangalore Junction (MAJN). There are regular trains running between Chennai and Mysore and Mangalore. From Mysore or Mangalore, one has go via road till Coorg. .

By Road:

There are many buses running between Chennai and Coorg. You have Volvo and Luxury buses running from Chennai, making the journey quite comfortable. However, if you like to travel on your own, you can hire a taxi as well.  One can go via NH 46 which takes approximately 9 hours and 30 minutes. Going via State Highway 17 which is close 592 km, will take you close to 10 hours. One can take NH 48 which will take you slightly more than 10 hours to reach Coorg.

The common road route from Chennai to Coorg:

Chennai - Bangalore - Srirangapatna - Mysore - Hunsur - Periapatna - Bylakuppe - Kushalnagar – Madikeri

Another route which tourist can take is:

Chennai- Vellore- Hosur- Mysore- Yelwal – Hunsur – Kempalapura – Piriyapatna – Bylakuppe – Kushalnagara – Suntikoppa – Madikeri.
